About Vietnam Visa on Arrival (VOA)

About Vietnam VOA Visa

Vietnam Visa on Arrival (VOA), also known as airport visa or visa upon arrival, is a type of visa that allows you to obtain a visa upon arrival at a designated airport in the country you are visiting. Unlike traditional visas, which require you to apply for the visa in advance through an embassy or consulate, VOA allows you to apply for the visa directly at the airport of entry.

Characteristics of Vietnam VOA Visa:

1. Issued at the airport: VOA is granted directly at major international airports such as Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City), Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), Da Nang Airport (Danang), and other select airports.

2. Requirements:

To ensure a smooth and fast VOA application process, please prepare the following documents:

  • Approval Letter (issued online by the Vietnam Immigration Department upon registration before their arrival, sent via email after filling out the application form, obtained through travel agencies or visa services in Vietnam)
  • Passport valid for at least 06 months from the date of entry to Vietnam
  • 02 passport-sized photos (front-facing, clear facial image, white background, 4×6 cm).
  • Cash to pay the visa stamping fee at the airport (USD 25 for single entry and USD 50 for multiple entries)

3. Validity and types of visas:

In Vietnam, VOA is categorized into two main types:

  • Single entry visa for 30 - 90 days: This visa allows visitors to enter Vietnam once within less than 3 months of the date of entry. Upon leaving Vietnam, visitors must apply for a new visa if they wish to re-enter.
  • Multiple entry visa for  30 - 90 days: This visa allows visitors to enter Vietnam multiple times within less than 3 months of the date of entry. Visitors can enter and exit Vietnam multiple times during this period.

4. Visa fees:

  • Service fee: Paid to the agency for obtaining the Approval Letter.
  • Stamping fee: Paid directly at the airport when receiving the visa.

5. Visa on Arrival procedure:

  • Step 1: Submit your information online

Fill out the online application for an Approval Letter: Provide complete and accurate information (full name, nationality, passport number, passport expiration date, entry and exit dates) along with the online visa application form. Then, pay the service fee using a credit card, OnePay, PayPal, or Western Union. This step typically takes around 5 minutes.

  • Step 2: Processing

The processing officer will submit the request to the Vietnam Immigration Department, and the applicant will receive the visa approval letter via email within 03 working days of submitting the visa application or under 1 hour (if using the urgent visa application service).

  • Step 3: Receive the visa after landing in Vietnam

Upon landing at any international airport in Vietnam, proceed to the designated Visa Counter, present the email visa approval letter, original passport, additional passport-sized photos (2 photos 4×6 cm), and pay the visa stamping fee. This completes the entry process.

Benefits of Vietnam VOA Visa:

  • Convenience: No need to visit a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate abroad.
  • Speed: Quick and easy online process to obtain the Approval Letter.
  • Flexibility: Multiple options for visa duration and entry types to meet individual needs.
